Ahly’s Portuguese coach Manuel Jose confirmed he will not punish Algerian striker Amir Sayoud for his disastrous penalty kick during his team’s 4-0 win over Kima Aswan in the Egypt Cup round of 32.

“No punishment of any kind against Sayoud. I think media sarcasm is enough for him,” the 65-year old coach was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

The 23-year old forward stumbled before he kicked the ball, fell to the ground and was given a yellow card for “disregarding the opponent”, as Refereeing Committee President Mohamed Hossam termed his conduct.

Local and international media made fun of the player, describing the penalty kick as the funniest, worst and weirdest ever. Some bloggers paired the player with Tomas, a funny character from Egyptian TV series, El-Kebeer Awi, in which he made a similar mistake.

“I want him in the team and I refused a Saudi offer from El-Raed for him,” Jose concluded.
