Despite recent reports claiming he’s on the verge of a switch to Zamalek, Ghanaian midfielder Stephen Appiah stressed that no agreement has been reached yet.
”We have been in touch with Zamalek and other teams but nothing concrete has been agreed on,” the former Juventus and Fenerbahce player was quoted as saying on ghanasoccernet.com.
The 30-year old midfielder has been on Zamalek’s radar especially that coach Hassan Shehata has shown his interest in signing the widely experienced player to boost the team’s chances in ending a seven-year league drought.
The Whites’ officials have revealed in the press that Appiah – who is a free agent after ending his spell with Italian side Cesena - is set to ink a two-year deal worth $700 000 per season.
However there have been major concerns over his knee injury and fitness as he had spent the past couple of season with recurring injuries. If the deal should be sealed it would be in the next few days as the transfer window will end next Thursday in Egypt.
