Ahly will be determined to assert their title credentials with another win over ninth-placed El-Entag El-Harby when both sides meet at Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium on Tuesday.
Having convincingly bounced back from a surprise last-gasp 1-0 defeat to Wadi Degla with a 4-0 thrashing of lowly Aswan, leaders Ahly will be keen to retain the eight-point gap with second-placed and reigning champions Zamalek with another win.
Despite having a clear edge over El-Entag, the Reds will need to bear in mind that they are facing opponents who will be keen to end a four-match winless streak, which saw them play out three goalless draws before another 1-1 stalemate with Smouha last week.
Entag manager Shawki Gharib stated that he has prepared well for the Ahly meeting, while rotating his squad in an attempt to overcome fatigue as a result of his side's hectic schedule.
"I hope to achieve a positive result against Ahly, I'm looking forward to a top-four finish."
Despite lying in ninth place, El-Entag – who still have a game in hand – are only separated by seven points from the CAF Confederation Cup-qualifying third spot.
Ahly, on the other hand, will have to do without Egypt centre-half Ahmed Hegazy, who suffered a hamstring injury last week against Aswan.
Veteran striker Emad Meteb, who scored a dramatic stoppage time winner against El-Entag in the reverse fixture, was also ruled out due to personal reasons.
Meanwhile, striker Amr Gamal has returned after missing the Aswan win, with strike duo Malick Evouna and John Antwi also present.
The absence of attacking midfield duo Saleh Gomaa and Ahmed El-Sheikh continues.
