Zamalek have officially accepted Al-Merreikh's $700,000 offer,” Essam El-Hadary, the international shot-stopper, declared in a statement posted on his website.

The 37-year old goalkeeper had fallen out with Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan and repeatedly announced that he wanted to move away from the club.

Al-Merreikh registered their interest though both sides were unable to reach an agreement over the transfer fee in the past few weeks.

El-Hadary had to make sacrifices as, according to Al-Ahram Arabic portal, he had to forfeit payments he was due from the club.

The Pharaohs’ number one keeper is serving a four-month ban for unilaterally breaching his contract with Ahly in 2008. He is set to resume action in mid-February.
