Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan turn down an invitation from Zamalek to attend the Egypt Cup final against ENPPI on Tuesday

Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan

Club-less coach Hossam Hassan and his twin brother Ibrahim decided not to attend Tuesday’s Egypt Cup final between Zamalek and ENPPI to avoid distracting the team they left in the summer.

Zamalek chairman Galal Ibrahim had invited Hassan twins to attend the anticipated game, saying that “they are two important Zamalek stars who should be present”.

Ahram Online has learnt that Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan opted to reject the invitation to avoid affecting the concentration of Zamalek players, who are seeking to end a three-year title drought.

Coach Hossam and football director Ibrahim were sacked by the Cairo giants in the close season after failing to guide the success-starved team to the Egyptian Premier League title.

The White Knights boasted a six-point advantage over Ahly at the halfway stage of the season but their Cairo rivals roared back in the latter stages to snatch a seventh consecutive league title.

Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan were recently dismissed by Ismaily after a brief spell in charge of the coastal side, who opted to relieve them of their duties following their early elimination from the Egypt Cup.
