Ahly will go without defender Ahmed Hegazy, midfielder Amr El-Sulaya and winger Bassem Ali when the team faces Smouha in the Egypt Cup quarter-final on Monday due to injuries.

"The trio of players will undergo scans to determine the seriousness of their injuries as well as the time they need to recover," Ahly's doctor Khaled Mahmoud told reporters on Friday.

Central midfielder Amr El-Sulaya was substituted in the first half during the 1-0 win over Morocco's Wydad in the CAF Champions League last Wednesday and his replacement, Bassem Ali, was also taken off after the break. Defender Ahmed Hegazy was also replaced at 66 minutes after sustaining a hamstring injury.

The Cairo giants are already struggling to cope with some notable absences, especially following the move of Ramadan Sobhi to Stoke City and Malick Evouna to China's Tianjin Teda, and their cause was not helped when they were forced to make three unscripted substitutions due to injuries.

The winner from Smouha and Ahly game will face ENPPI in the semifinal of Egypt Cup.
