Nigerian striker Minusu Buba
Gouna striker Minusu Buba was the most inspirational player on the opening day of the new Egyptian Premier League season after a splendid performance in his team’s thrilling 3-3 draw with ENPPI on Saturday.
The Nigerian striker broke the deadlock after connecting with Ahmed Adel’s long pass. Falling two goals behind, Gouna were given a lifeline again when the former Ittihad El-Shorta striker pressed on ENPPI’s defenders to intercept the ball and sent it directly past keeper Mohamed Abou Gabal to bring the score to 3-2.
Buba then turned from scorer to provider as he picked up a misdirected pass from ENPPI’s defender to set up Ibrahim Al-Hilali who scored the equalizer in the dying seconds of the game to claim a precious away draw in their opening game of the season.
The 27-year old Nigerian striker – who has been a constant attacking threat since arriving in Egypt six years ago – is off to a brilliant start hoping to reproduce his 2009-2010 form when he was crowned the season’s top scorer with 14 goals.
