Ahly football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz has rubbished local media reports suggesting Portuguese coach Manuel Jose had sacked goalkeeping coach Ahmed Nagi following the disappointing 2-2 league draw with Petrojet.

“These reports claiming Nagi’s exit are all false...Nagi is the best keepers’ coach in Egypt and is a key factor in our technical staff,” Abdel-Hafiz was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

Media reported that on the team bus after the match Jose harshly blamed Nagi for Sherif Ekrami’s mistake for Petrojet’s equaliser.

Nagi has made no comment on the speculation.

“We haven’t decided any punishment for the players’ following the draw as the league race is long and Ahly is determined to clinch the championship,” he added.

The Cairo giants are suffering a series of poor results having exited the Egypt Cup and the CAF Champions League in one week during September.

In other news, the Red Devils’ newly signed midfielder Walid Soliman will be sidelined from training for two days due to a groin injury he picked up during the Petrojet match.
