Zamalek's coach Hassan Shehata and Assistant Ismail Yousif
Zamalek assistant manager Ismail Youssef announced Monday that the club’s technical staff are presently observing three African midfielders and will soon decide who to select in the upcoming transfer window.
“We will boost our squad with one of the three African players we are currently assessing,” Zamalek’s assistant coach Ismail Youssef told Ahram Online.
The Cairo giant’s assistant coach preferred not to divulge the names of the three African players a secret.
He also denies reports that the team has signed Olympic team and Masry midfielder Hossam Hassan.
“Our relationship with Masry’s management is better; we couldn’t negotiate with the player without informing his team,” Yousif explained.
On the other hand, Zamalek’s goalkeeper Abdel-Wahid El-Sayed decided to remove the captain’s armband, as it causes him psychological stress. El-Sayed felt burdened by the responsibility during previous league games.
Ismail Youssef also believes that the coming match against Smouha in the fifth match day of the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday will be difficult.
“Smouha have good players and they will be difficult to overcome, but we will be able to walk away with the three points, I believe,” Youssef stated.
Zamalek are currently second in the Egyptian Premier League’s table with seven points: one behind their archrivals Ahly who currently top the standings.
