Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry has decided to include all his players in a training camp that starts Wednesday amid preparations for Saturday's match against South African side Bidvest Wits in the first round of the CAF Champions League round of 32.
"The technical staff decided to call all the players for the closed camp ahead of the Bidvest Wits match," the club said on its official website.
Ahly will begin their African Champions League campaign by hosting the South African side, who defeated Saint-Louisienne 4-3 in the preliminary round on aggregate.
The Cairo giants are participating in Africa’s most prestigious club tournament directly from the round of 32 as the Egyptian Premier League title holders.
Ahly currently lead the Egyptian League table with 52 points after playing 20 games.
Record eight-time CAF Champions League title-holders, Ahly last won the tournament in 2013, beating South Africa’s Orlando Pirates 3-1 on aggregate in the final.
