A manager-less Ahly will be looking to restore their eight-point lead at the top of the table when they meet Talae El-Geish in the Egyptian league on Thursday.
Following the dismissal of Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry by the referee in last week's 1-1 draw with El-Entag El-Harby, the Reds are now set to take on another military side in Geish in the absence of their coach.
The Entag draw not only witnessed El-Badry's sending-off for dissent, but midfielder Hossam Ashour similarly saw red after the final whistle for shaking hands with the ref in an inappropriate manner.
As a result, the Egyptian FA-affiliated Competition's Committee hit El-Badry with a two-match touchline ban and suspended Ashour for four games, starting with the Geish fixture.
And with only five points separating Ahly with second-placed and rivals Maqassa who played a game more, the defending champions will be eager to make sure they regain their eight-point lead on top of the table.
Apart from Ashour, Ahly will be missing Egypt defense duo Ahmed Fathi and Ahmed Hegazy due to injury alongside international center-back Saad Samir.
New-arrival Ahmed Hamoudi, veteran striker Emad Meteb and playmaker Saleh Gomaa were all omitted due to technical reasons, with right-back Bassem Ali and midfielder Amr Barakat making the squad.
