Ahly will have a tough clash against Zamalek

Within their preparations for the Cairo Derby against Zamalek at Cairo stadium next Thursday, Ahly football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz revealed that the most important match in the Egyptian Premier League (EPL) won't depend on recent results but the performance on the field.

“The Zamalek clash won’t be easy as both teams are fighting to earn three points. No matter what happens before them, Cairo Derbies are always about the performance on the field” the former Ahly star stated on Ahly's official website.

Title holders Ahly have suffered successive draws this season as they won only 6 matches out of 13 while their archrivals Zamalek won 9. Thursday’s match was postponed from Day 12 of the EPL due to security reasons.

“The technical staff trust the players’ abilities to win the derby and continue competing for the title” Adbel-Hafiz added.

The Red devils start their closed training camp on Monday afternoon at 6thof October city to concentrate on Thursday’s match against the white knights.

Ahly are fourth on the league table with 24 points, 6 points behind table leader Zamalek.
