Ahly technical staff, under the guidance of their Portuguese coach, has announced that the team would play four friendly matches during the Egyptian Premier League stoppage until 13 December amid preparations for its anticipated clash with Ismaily.

“We will play Al-Tayaran on 27 November. There will be another three games on 2, 6 and 9 December,” the title holders’ football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

Abdel-Hafiz revealed that the 6 December match would be played against El-Giesh in tandem with a retirement celebration for former Pharaohs star Abdel-Sattar Sabry.

Shawky back soon

In a related development, team doctor Ehab Ali confirmed that injured midfielder Mohamed Shawky would return to training next week.

“Shawky is about to finish his rehabilitation program and will be fully recovered by next week to join his teammates in training,” Ali said.

Star midfielder Mohamed Barakat, who recently celebrated his 35th birthday with the team, has also returned to general training following recovery.

The Cairo giants resumed training Sunday morning following a break since the 3-2 ENPPI win on 7 November. They are currently in the league’s driving seat with 14 points – 4 places before archrivals Zamalek, who are fifth in the table with one game in hand.
