Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry will remain in charge of the Cairo giants in the new season, club president Mahmoud Taher confirmed on Sunday, after the 2-2 league draw against Enppi.
Despite guiding the Reds to their 39th league title two weeks ago, the future of El-Badry seemed in doubt after the club's shaky results in the African Champions League.
“El-Badry will remain in his post as Ahly coach in the next season. He is one of the prominent coaches and the renewal will be finalized after the team’s trip to face Zambia’s Zanaco,” Taher told an Egyptian TV channel.
“We will sign more players ahead of the new season. We are meeting all the requests of both the technical staff and also the players,” he added.
After winning two out of four matches in the Champions League group stage, the Red Devils currently lie in second place in Group D with seven points, three behind leaders Zanaco.
Morocco’s Wydad are third with six points, while Cameroon’s Coton Sport FC lie fourth with zero points.
