Ahly sign Smouha's Eslam Mohareb (Ahly's Official Website)
Ahly have officially signed Smouha winger Eslam Mohareb on a five-year contract, the Egyptian champions announced on Sunday.
"Mohareb has signed the contract with Ahly after passing the medical tests successfully," Ahly's marketing director Essam Serag was quoted as saying by the club's official website.
"The deal included sending our goalkeeper Mosaad Awad to Smouha on a permanent basis, while midfielder Nasser Maher will play the next season with the coastal club on loan," he added.
Mohareb, who came up through Ahly's youth ranks before his move to Gouna in 2013, joinedd Smouha in 2015. He has scored five goals in 26 league appearances with the Alexandria-based club this season.
"I am happy to return to my boyhood club. I refused all the offers that I received recently as I wanted to fulfill my dream of returning to Ahly," Mohareb said after the signing.
The 25-year-old is Ahly's second summer signing; the Cairo giants also secured the services of Moroccan international striker Walid Azaro on 18 June on a four-year contract.
Under the guidance of coach Hossam El-Badry, Ahly have already secured their 39th league title this season with one match to spare against rivals Zamalek on Monday.
