Belgian manager Franky Vercauteren has ended a quick visit to Egypt to negotiate a possible position as the new coach of Cairo-based club Zamalek.

"The meeting with Vercauteren was very fruitful. He has a very admirable personality, but the board has not yet made the final decision regarding the new tactician," Zamalek board member Ahmed Mansour told Egyptian sports website Filgoal Sunday.

The former Belgium and Anderlecht manager Vercauteren is among many foreign coaches nominated to succeed Portuguese manager Augusto Inacio as the Zamalek coach.

Inacio ended his spell following a dispute with the club's chairman Mortada Mansour after a poor run.

The Cairo-based club, who are bidding for their last hope to win a tournament this season playing Masry in the Egypt Cup quarterfinal on 8 August, is currently led by Tarek Yehia until a new coach is hired.

Zamalek have had 15 different coaches since the election of Mansour in 2014, including Ahmed “Mido” Hossam, Hossam Hassan, Manuel Ferreira and Alex McLeish.
