Maqassa's versatile midfielder Hussein El-Shahat joined Emirati side Al-Ain on a six-month loan deal on Monday, ending speculation over his future amid public interest from Cairo giants Ahly.
"I am very happy to join Al-Ain," El-Shahat was quoted as saying on Al-Ain's official Twitter account on Monday.
"I know well the challenges that I would face with my new teammates to help the club compete in all competitions."
The 25- year-old was linked with a possible move to Ahly in this winter transfer window.
Ahly made no secret of their desire to land El-Shahat, who scored nine Egyptian Premier League in the first half of the season.
El-Shahat, who can play as a right-back, central midfielder or playmaker, is one of the hottest prospects in Egyptian football.
Al-Ain, who are the most successful club in the UAE with 12 leagues titles, currently lie second in the league.
