Ahly skipper Hossam Ghaly has returned to the team's fold for the first-time since arriving in the winter break for the Reds' visit to Assiouty Sport in the Egyptian League on Friday.

After amicably terminating his contract with Saudi side Al-Nassr, ex-Tottenham midfielder Ghaly rejoined his boyhood club, as he is now set for his first appearance since his January arrival.

Whether the 36-year-old will start for the league leaders remains to be seen, with midfield partners Hossam Ashour, Amr El-Sulaya, Hesham Mohamed and Akram Tawfik all making the squad.

Defending champions Ahly have commendably overcome Arab Contractors 5-2 in their last league fixture, scoring three late goals (including two in stoppage time) with just six minutes left to the end of regular time.

Similarly, Assiouty go into the game on the back of another comprehensive league win, having come back from behind to thrash rock bottom Nasr.

They are currently on a six-game unbeaten run, which is likely to come to an end when they face the in-form Ahly – who are looking for their 11th consecutive league win.

The Cairo giants top the league table with 60 points, 14 clear of second-placed Ismaily.
