Zamalek have requested that the Egyptian Football Association move their Confederation Cup game against Ethiopia's Welayta Dicha from Cairo Stadium to the Army Stadium in Suez, the club announced on Wednesday.

The White Knights have initially chosen the Cairo stadium to host their home matches in the secondary African club competition but eventually opted for Suez stadium after coach Ihab Galal praised the "good condition" of the pitch, where Zamalek defeated Petrojet 3-1 in a league game earlier this week.

Security officials said they would not allow a "big number of fans" to attend matches at Cairo stadium, adding that they will be more flexible in other stadiums outside the capital.

Zamalek will face Welayta Dicha in a two-legged tie in the Confederation Cup round of 16 next month.

The Ethiopian side reached this round at the expense of Tanzania's Zimamoto after beating them 2-1 on aggregate in the competition's preliminary round.

The first leg is set to be played away between on 6 or 7 March, with the second leg taking place ten days later in Egypt.

Zamalek, five-time Champions League winners, are bidding for their first Confederation Cup title in their history.
