Following Zamalek’s 3-1 defeat of the Arab Contractors in the 7th match day of the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday, manager Hassan Shehata praised the opposing side and spoke of the tactical adjustments needed to overcome them.
“Arab Contractors is a good team under the helm of a brilliant tactician; so it’s difficult to snatch a victory from them,” Shehata told the post game press conference.
The manager stated that the match was tough on the White Knight’s players due to the recent suspension of premier league games.
“I changed the team’s tactics during the match to snatch an important win for the team,” he added.
Egyptand Zamalek defender Mahmoud Fathallah was sidelined due to technical problems.
“I choose the team line-up according to the match’s needs,” the Zamalek tactician stated.
The former national team coach said that he welcomes the return of Qatari playmaker Hussein Yasser El-Mohamady without the need for an apology.
“Yasser’s return is considered an apology to the club and his supporters,” Shehata claimed during the conference.
Zamalek’s manager also refuted reports in the Egyptian media that Zamalek’s management are in talks with goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary to sign him next January.
“Zamalek are not in talks with goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary to sign him when the January transfer window reopens.”
Furthermore, the 62-year-old tactician threatened to leave Zamalek if they didn’t meet the players’ financial demands.
“I asked management to resolve the players’ financial problems or I will leave the club” Shehata announced.
Zamalek, who last won the league in 2004, are in fifth place with 13 points, three behind leaders Harras El-Hodoud who have played a game more. Contractors are 16th with just three points.
