Zamalek have denied they requested the postponement of Sunday’s league match against Masry.
“The match was postponed due to security concerns not at the club’s request,” the Cairo giant’s general trainer Ismail Yussif told Ahram Online.
Egyptian media reports claimed the club had wanted the delay because Ahly’s clash against Ismaily was delayed.
The interior ministry postponed the match after ten died and hundreds were injured in bloody clashes outside the Cabinet offices over the weekend.
“We didn’t benefit from the Masry game delay and the Arab Contractors game (which the EFA refused to postpone) had other circumstances,” Yussif insisted.
It has been reported that the EFA also wants to delay the Whites’ next game against Bani Sweif Telephones.
“We haven’t received an official letter about the matter,” Yussif said.
The Whites are fifth in the league table with 13 points, three behind leaders Meqassa and one behind Ahly who lie third.
