Zamalek's elected chairman, Mamdouh Abbass, who returned to his post Sunday has announced that he and his board will attend Monday’s match against Beni Suef Telephones.
“All the board members will be in the stands today to support the team,” Abbass told Ahram Online.
Under the helm of Hassan Shehata, the country’s most successful coach, the White Castle will play their first game against Hamza El-Gamal’s team who were promoted to the Egyptian Premier League this year.
“We trust the technical staff and the team's experienced players to easily clinch the three points,” Abbass who replaced interim chairman Galal Ibrahim added.
Abbass, who last week was reinstated by an administrative court after Mortada Mansour withdrew his appeal against the club’s presidential elections, promised to solve the financial problems plaguing the club and promised that all the players would receive their overdue wages on Monday.
The Whites are bidding for their first league title since 2004. They are seventh in the league table with 13 points, nine behinds leaders Haras El-Hodoud and four behind archrivals Ahly, who lie second.
