Egyptian Premier League side ENPPI have sacked their technical staff headed by coach Mokhtar Mokhtar after the club’s recent run of poor results.

“We have decided to fire the current technical staff and thank them for their efforts with the first team,” a statement announced on the club’s official website late on Monday.

The decision came hours after the petroleum club was held to a 2-2 draw by Talae El-Geish in just the 10th round of the domestic leauge. ENPPI lie 16th in the league table with six points after playing nine matches, during which they have picked up only one win, while incurring five defeats.

Reports in the Egyptian media claim that former Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan and his brother Ibrahim along with Sudanese club Merriekh's Egyptian coach Hossam El-Badry are the front-runners for the 57-year-old Mokhtar's old post.

Former Petrojet and Masry coach Mokhtar won the first title in his coaching career two months ago when he guided ENPPI to the Egypt Cup following an upset victory over Zamalek.
