The United Arab Emirates have announced that Egypt will host their Arabian Gulf Super Cup between Al-Ain and Al-Wehda at Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo on 25 August, the Pro League Committee (PLC) announced Thursday.

"Holding the Super Cup abroad serves important purposes, including enhancing bilateral relations with friendly nations. Sport is a bridge between nations and a mean to strengthen ties between brotherly peoples," stated the PLC Vice President of the Executive Office Youssif Khoori in a press conference held at the Abu Dhabi Sport Council on Thursday.

"Matches like the Super Cup help expand the fanbase of UAE football and attract more fans from Egypt to discover the Arabian Gulf League, also encouraging Egyptian expats to follow local football in the future," he added.

"Choosing Egypt as the venue for the Super Cup again emphasizes the strong ties between the two nations. The UAE hosted the Egyptian Super Cup on multiple occasions in the past, and we are keen for the cooperation between our two countries to continue," Khoori concluded.

Egypt, who have held its Super Cup games in the UAE over the previous years, are promising a success in organizing football events, and revealed interest in bidding for hosting the 2030 World Cup, despite the ban on fans entering local football competition arenas since a security disaster stunned the nation in 2012.
