Ahly key-players Ahmed Fathy, Hossam Ashour and Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi are major doubts for the Egyptian Premier League opener against Ismaily on Tuesday due to injuries.

Veteran midfielder Ahmed Fathy, who missed the 1-0 win over Township Rollers in Botswana due to a muscle injury, will undergo medical tests to determine his fitness for the league opener, according to Ahly's doctor Khaled Mahmoud.

"Fathy is completing a rehabilitation programme for a groin strain and will undergo further tests," read a statement on the club's official website.

Midfielder Hossam Ashour sustained a minor injury during the victory over Township Rollers in the CAF Champions League fourth round game on Saturday.

"Hossam Ashour will undergo physiotherapy when we arrive in Cairo as he suffered a minor knock," the Ahly doctor said.

Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi also sustained a serious knee injury during the game against Township Rollers in Botswana and left the field before half-time.

"Ajayi will undergo MRI scanning in Cairo to determine his absence period,"

The Cairo giants, who are second in Group A of the CAF Champions League with seven points, will kick off their Egyptian Premier League campaign on Tuesday against Ismaily.
