Egypt's Pyramids FC sign Nigeria midfielder Okechukwu

Pyramids FC continued their spending spree with the signing of Nigerian midfielder Azubuike Okechukwu from Turkey's Yeni Malatyaspor, the Egyptian club announced on Sunday.

"The player has signed a deal to join Pyramids … he will be in the team's 18-man squad for the upcoming league against Dakhleya on 26 August," the big-spending club said on Twitter.

Okechukwu will be the fourth foreigner in Pyramids' squad along with Brazilian trio Rodriguinho, Keno and Carlos Eduardo. Another Brazilian, striker Ribamar, started the season with Pyramids before making a sudden move to Saudi Arabia's Ohod last week.

Pyramids, formerly known as Assiouty Sport, made some record signings in the summer after being taken over by Saudi investor Turki Al-Sheikh, who is the head of Saudi Arabia's General Sports Authority (GSA)

They collected seven points from their opening three Egyptian Premier League games to sit joint top. However, some uninspiring displays cost Brazilian manager Alberto Valentim his job, with Argentinean boss Ricardo La Volpe named as his replacement.

Okechukwu made an international appearance with Nigeria in March 2016, coming on as a substitute in an African Nations Cup qualifier against Egypt.
