Ismaily advance to 5th place in the league after beating Entag Harby 2-0, while Maqassa thrashes Ghazl El-Mahalla 5-1 in Fayoum

Ismaily eased past Entag Harby 2-0 on Thursday to keep themselves at fifth place in the Egyptian League table with 20 points – eight points behind leaders Harras El-Hodoud, which played one match more.

Nigerian striker Ndubuisi Godwin opened the scoring after 56 minutes, while Omar Gamal doubled the seal in the game’s 80th minute with a beautiful shot from outside the zone.

After two winless games, Maqassa reappeared with a whopping 5-1 win over struggling Ghazl El-Mahalla at Fayoum Stadium.

In-form fullback Fouad Salama scored twice (minutes 18 and 44) to top the Egyptian league scorers’ list with eight goals in 11 matches. Moroccan forward Omar Najdi also hit a brace (14 and 66), while Oussou Konan scored the fifth goal for the hosts in the 53rd minute.

Ghazl El-Mahalla midfielder scored the consolation goal for the visitors in the 50th minute.

Ittihad of Alexandria clinched their third win in the domestic league this season with a 2-1 victory over Arab Contactors in Alexandria to advance to ninth place in the league table.

Iraqi striker Mostafa Karim scored twice (21 and 34) to give his team three precious points.

Earlier in the day, Masry clinched a difficult 1-0 win over stubborn Gouna, thanks to Masry’s Nigerian defender Eliassou Issiaka, who scored the winner six minutes before the end of the game.
