Ahly have announced that the team's first choice goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawi sustained a minor knock in his thigh during the 2-2 draw with UAE's Al-Wasl on Sunday, but he will be fit for the game against Tunisian side Esperance in the CAF Champions League final.

"The Ahly coach decided to rest El-Shennawi after sustaining the injury to prepare him for the CAF Champions League final," Ahly's doctor Khaled Mahmoud was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

The Cairo giants will host Tunisian side Esperance in the first leg of the CAF Champions League final on Friday, and the second leg will be played in Tunisia a week later.

Ahly, the eight-time African champions, made their way to their second consecutive CAF Champions League final to face off with two-time champions Esperance of Tunisia.
