Ahly lose to Arab Contractors in the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday (Ahram)
Ahly's chances of winning a fourth consecutive Egyptian Premier League title will hinge on their ability to quickly arrest a slump in form as they aim to return to winning ways against Petrojet on Saturday.
The Red Devils, reeling from their loss in the African Champions League final and elimination from the Arab Zayed Cup last 16, lost their previous two league games against Ittihad and Arab Contractors.
They were dearly affected by a number of injuries that hit their key players, with the lack of depth in an underachieving squad prompting smaller teams who usually sit back to soak up pressure against the mighty Ahly to adopt more bold approaches.
Arab Contractors struck a late goal to inflict another loss on Ahly, who languish at the bottom of the table with 11 points from seven matches.
However, they will still have a genuine chance of competing for the title if they win six rescheduled matches, starting with Saturday's encounter against Petrojet who are also struggling with 15 points from 15 games.
Ahly will be boosted by the return of Moroccan marksman Walid Azaro, who missed the loss against Contractors due to injury.
Right-back Mohamed Hani and central midfielder Amr El-Sulaya are also back to the squad.
Ahly are led by caretaker coach Mohamed Youssef who took over following the sacking of Frenchman Patrice Carteron.
