Ahly have signed Primeiro de Agosto forward Geraldo, both clubs announced on Saturday, as the Egyptian giants continue to strengthen the team after a recent poor run.
Angola's Primeiro de Agosto originally said they had reached an agreement with Ahly over the transfer without providing further details but the Cairo club said later Geraldo had penned a four-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Geraldo became Ahly's third winter signing following the acquisition of Wadi Degla's Egyptian international midfielder Mohamed Mahmoud and Maqassa left-back Mahmoud Wahid.
The 27-year-old was instrumental in helping Primeiro de Agosto reach the African Champions League semi-final last season, scoring four goals in 10 matches.
Should he join Ahly, he will be ineligible to take part in their Champions League campaign this term, having already played with his Angolan club in a preliminary round game.
The Red Devils are seeking to rebuild an underachieving squad after several disappointments of late.
They lost to Tunisia's Esperance in the African Champions League final before exiting the Arab Zayed Cup at the last 16 stage, with lack of depth in their squad cited as the main reason for their poor run.
