Talae El-Geish's midfielder Ahmed Samir scored twice to snatch a precious draw against leaders Zamalek in an Egyptian League game at Suez Stadium on Wednesday.
Youssef Ibrahim opened the scoring for Zamalek in the 25th minute, while Moroccan striker Khalid Boutaib doubled the seal five minutes later.
Samir narrowed the gap after two minutes before scoring the equaliser three minutes from time.
Zamalek are at the top of the league table with 52 points, seven points ahead of second placed Pyramids FC, who played two matches more, and 10 points ahead of third placed Ahly, who have two matches on hand.
The White Knights started the game in style as Ferjani Sassi and Youssef 'Obama' Ibrahim squandered two clear chances before the latter received a nice pass from Tunisian fullback Hamdi Nagguez to score easily in the 25th minute.
Five minutes later, Moroccan striker Boutaib scored a similar goal to bag his third goal in three consecutive matches.
Talae El-Geish's midfielder Samir, who is a former Zamalek player, narrowed the gap two minutes later with a nice curling shot that went in the corner of Zamalek’s net.
The second Halftime was calm as Zamalek players were content with their narrow lead and Talae El-Geish players seemed incapable of making a real threat.
With three minutes remaining, Samir stunned his former club with another curling shot from outside the area, giving his side a precious draw against the league leaders.
After the goal, Zamalek intensified their attacks and they were close to winning the game, but Omar El-Saed and Youssef 'Obama' Ibrahim squandered two golden chances in the dying minutes.
