Defender Wael Gomaa and midfielder Walid Soliman have been left out of Ahly's squad for Wednesday's league match against Masry due to injury.

Ahmed El-Sayed will also miss the match after picking up a red card during Saturday's 2-0 defeat of Arab Contractors, further adding to Ahly's defensive worries.

Striker Emad Meteb returns to the squad after recovering from injury and will join forward Ahmed Farag who recently joined on loan from El-Eskka El-Hadid.

It will be the first match for Ahly coach Jose against Masry’s new coach Hossam Hassan who led Zamalek last season. Hassan has guided Masry to a last-gasp win against ENNPI and a precious draw against Ismaily since he joined the Port Said-based club two weeks ago.

Ahly, who are looking for their eighth successive league title, are currently top of the table with 36 points, two above Haras El-Hodoud and four ahead of Zamalek.

The 18-man squad

Goalkeepers: Sherif Ekramy, Ahmed Adel

Defenders: Sherif Abdel-Fadil, Ahmed Fathi, Sayed Moawad, Ahmed Shedid, Hossam Ghaly, Mohamed Naguib

Midfielders: Hossam Ashour, Mohamed Abou-Treika, Mohamed Barakat, Abdallah El-Said, Shehabeddine Ahmed, Mohamed Shawky
