Ahly will play against Equatorial Guinea's Cano Sport in the 32nd round of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League. The first leg will take place on 14 September, and the return leg, in Egypt, two weeks later, said Ahly's football director Sayed Abdel-Hafez on Thursday.
Egypt's Ahly won the CAF Champions League Cup eight times, a record high.
The two teams reached the 32nd round after Ahly beat South Sudan's Atlabara 13-0 on aggregate, (4-0 and 9-0) in the preliminary stage, and Cano Sport won against Ethiopia's Mekelle 3-2 on aggregate.
"We are preparing for the CAF Champions League game as we await the disclosure of the name of the team's new coach," Abdel-Hafez told the media, adding that Ahly's veteran defender Ramy Rabia, 26, needed two more weeks to recover from the muscle injury he sustained during the first-leg match with Atlabara three weeks ago.
"Rabia is in rehab to recover from the injury. He will be back on the field in 15 days," Abdel-Hafez confirmed.
