Veteran defender Rami Rabie would be returning to training after the team's first-leg game in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League against Equatorial Guinea's Cano Sport, the Ahly medical staff announced on Thursday.
The Cairo giants will face Cano Sport in the first leg of the 32nd round of the Champions League, taking place on 14 September away from home. The return leg will be played in Egypt two weeks later.
"Rabie will miss the game against Cano Sport. He sustained a muscle injury during Atlabara's game last month," read the medical staff's statement on the club's website.
Egypt's Ahly won the CAF Champions League Cup eight times, a record high.
The two teams reached the 32nd round after Ahly beat South Sudan's Atlabara 13-0 on aggregate, (4-0 and 9-0) in the preliminary stage, and Cano Sport won against Ethiopia's Mekelle 3-2 on aggregate.
