Ahly's in-form winger Ramadan Sobhi is confirmed to remain on the sidelines for six weeks due to muscular injury, club doctor Khaled Mahmoud revealed on Wednesday.

"Scans revealed that Sobhi has picked up a hamstring strain during his participation in Tuesday's training," Mahmoud told the club's official website.

"The player needs a rehabilitation program that will last for six weeks before rejoining the trainings," the doctor added.

Last summer, Ahly extended Sobhi's loan deal from English side Huddersfield Town for one more season.

The 22-year old talented winger, who came from Ahly's youth ranks, is a key player in coach Rene Weiler's lineup, bringing much-needed strength and creativity to the frontline.

Since guiding Egypt's Olympic team as a skipper to win the U-23 African Cup of Nations title at home last month, Sobhi has also delivered outstanding perfromances at the domestic level, netting four goals in six league matches so far this season.

Champions Ahly currently lead the league table with 18 points, one point ahead of 2nd placed Ittihad of Alexandria. Ahly will be facing Ismaily in their next league match on Thursday.
