Zamalek secure a place in Champions League quarterfinals after Zesco draw with de Agosto

The game between Zambia's Zesco United and Angola's Primeiro de Agosto in the 5th round of Group A games of the CAF Champions League was finished with 1-1 draw on Saturday, the result that helped Egypt's Zamalek to book a place in the tournament's quarterfinals.

Already qualified for the Champions League quarterfinals, TP Mazembe are leading Group A with 11 points, while Zamalek were waiting for the result of the game between Zesco United and Primeiro de Agosto that was finished with a draw to secure a quarterfinals place.

Zamalek are in the runners-up place in Group A with 8 points after playing five games so far as they achieved the victory in two games, drew in two and lost in one game.

Hosts took the lead against Primeiro de Agosto when striker Winston Kalengo found the nets five minutes after the break but Ary Papel snatched the equalizer 19 minutes later to finish the game with 1-1 draw between the two sides.

Zamalek are bidding to advance their ranking in Group A when they face Primeiro de Agosto next February in the final round of the groups' stage games. TP Mazembe will also face an easy mission against Zesco United in the final round.
