Ahly winger Hussien El-Shahat announced that his team is ready to book a place in the CAF Champions League quarterfinals when they face Sudanese side Al-Hilal Omdurman in the final round of the group stage next week.

The Red Devils boosted their hopes of reaching the last eight of the Champions League after beating Tunisia's Etoile Sahel 1-0 in the 5th round of Group B games late on Sunday.

Ahly are at the top of a tight Group B with 10 points, one ahead of Etoile and Sudanese giants Al-Hilal, with one match remaining in the group phase.

"We achieved an important victory over Etoile Sahel, which is one of the biggest teams in the African continent. This will help us to march on in the tournament," El-Shahat was quoted as saying on the club's official website after the game.

"We didn't secure a place in the quarterfinals as the group is very tight," he added.

Ahly only need to draw at Al-Hilal's Omdurman fortress in their final match next week to qualify for the quarter-finals. A win will see them advance as the group leaders regardless of the outcome of the other match between Etoile and Zimbabwe's Platinum.

"We are ready to book a place in the Champions League quarterfinals when we face Al-Hilal in Sudan," the Ahly winger said.
