Ahly coach Rene Weiler has said that he didn't pay attention to the draw in the African Champions League knockout stage that will mean his team will face South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Cairo giants defeated rivals Pyramids FC 2-1 on the 16th matchday of the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday to cement their lead in the league table with 39 points, after playing 13 games so far this season.

After the game, Weiler expressed his pleasure at the victory, saying he was confident in his players' ability to snatch the three points from the game.

When he was asked during the post-game press conference about his preparations for the tough game against the Sundowns in the African Champions League quarterfinals, the Swiss coach said he concentrates on only one game at a time.

"I don't think about the African Champions League and the game against the Sundowns now, as my target from every game is to win," Weiler said.

"We are playing to achieve the victory in the domestic and continental games.

"I didn't pay attention to the draw of the African Champions League so far as I was concentrating on Pyramids FC’s game and we will start our preparations for the coming game tomorrow," the Ahly coach added.

Ahly will have a busy schedule this February as they will face Talae El-Geish on the 17th matchday of the Egyptian Premier League on 10 February, and will then play Masry four days later.

The Red Devils will also face Zamalek in the Egypt Super Cup in the UAE on 20 February; then the two sides will meet again in the Egyptian Premier League on 24 February, before Ahly finish a busy month with the match against the Sundowns on 28 February.
