Zamalek manager Hassan Shehata announced on Monday that he refuses completely to participate in the Egypt Cup without the team’s international players.

"We have around ten players in the Egyptian national team and Egypt under 23 team. Consequently, it will be very difficult to play the Egypt Cup without those players," Shehata told Ahram Online on Monday.

The Egypt Football Association (EFA) decided on Saturday to call off the Egyptian League in the wake of the Port Said disaster, and they insisted that the Egypt Cup will start on 20 May without international players who will be occupied in the Pharaohs’ preparations for 2013 African Cup of Nations.

Zamalek’s president Mamdouh Abbas, who attended Saturday’s meeting with the EFA board, has accepted that teams will play the Egypt Cup without their international players.
