The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has decided to resume the second tier division 2019-2020 season starting from 20 September.
EFA announced on its Facebook page Wednesday that it will let clubs train in groups directly after Eid El-Adha, and after finishing all medical tests for participating teams, which will start 4 August and will be conducted according to a schedule to be delivered to all teams.
All football activities were suspended in Egypt since 15 March in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus, but the government recently decided to allow sports to resume starting 20 June.
Starting 1 July, Egypt has been gradually going back to normal as it has reopened airports for regular international flights, restaurants, sporting clubs and mosques under strict precautionary measures. It also lifted the country’s nighttime curfew.
The government has given the green light to resume the Premier League starting 25 July.
EFA has already conducted medical tests for all Premier League clubs and many have already resumed their trainings, with the competition resuming 7 or 8 August, according to Amr El-Ganainy, head of the normalisation committee temporarily in charge of EFA.
