The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said on Sunday that the game between Masry and Harras El-Hodoud will be played as scheduled on Monday, even though16 Masry members had tested positive for coronavirus.
Twelve Masry players and four non-playing staff were infected with the highly-contagious virus on Sunday and the club asked the EFA to postpone the game, only for the governing body to turn down their request and blame the club for the infections.
"The Egyptian Football Association decided to resume the domestic league as scheduled as we are convinced that this big number of infections is due to the negligence of the club by not following the precautionary measures," the EFA said in a statement.
Almost three dozen cases were discovered at several Premier League clubs, although all of the infected members only had mild symptoms.
Holders Ahly are leading the league table with 49 points after playing 17 matches, 16 points over second placed Arab Contractors, who played one game more.
Masry lie tenth with 20 points from 17 matches.
