A wounded Ahly are hoping for a return to their winning form when they face Gouna in a league game at El-Salam stadium in Cairo on Wednesday.
The Red Devils saw their first league defeat this season on Saturday when they lost 3-1 to archrivals Zamalek in the Cairo derby.
The loss will have no impact on Ahly's bid to secure a fifth straight league title, as they are in the driving seat of the league table with 56 points, enjoying a comfortable 14-point lead over second-placed Zamalek.
But the derby defeat has prompted anger from fans, whose main target this season is the club’s first CAF Champions League title since 2013.
Ahly will face Moroccan giants Wydad de Casablanca in the semi-finals in September.
"I'm disappointed and unhappy, especially after we wasted some goal-scoring chances. But this is football; we have to move on and prepare for the coming matches," Swiss coach Rene Weiler told the post-match news conference.
"But I'm not worried [about Ahly's prospects] in the African Champions League," he added.
Weiler announced on Tuesday his 21-man list for Wednesday's clash; stylish winger Walid Soliman was out due to injury but Ahmed El-Sheikh made the list after recovering from an ankle injury that had prevented him from playing in the Cairo derby.
Unfer fire Marwan Mohsen has also been included in the squad and will hope to make amends for his poor display against Zamalek.
On the other hand, Gouna will be looking for a positive result against the league leaders to improve their position in the league table.
They are on the edge of the drop zone with 21 points, and a loss would be critical for them.
