Ahly’s Swiss coach Rene Weiler said on Wednesday that he does not pay any attention to chatter regarding his departure from the Cairo giants, stressing he is only concentrating on games.
The 46-year-old Swiss tactician asked Ahly's management for a vacation starting the end of this September but reports in the Egyptian media claimed that Weiler will follow in the footsteps of Zamalek's Frenchman coach Patrice Carteron who left his team in the middle of the season to join a Saudi club.
"It's my right to have a vacation and see my family," Weiler told a press conference late on Wednesday after a 3-0 win over FC Masr in the Egyptian Premier League.
"There are rumors regarding my stay with Ahly but I don't concentrate on anything except games."
"I don't want to speak about my contract with Ahly in the media as these matters are only taken up in closed rooms," the Ahly's Swiss coach added.
"I shouldn't discuss this topic (the details of contract) in media."
"When I took a vacation last time, nine of ten persons said I won't return again but I returned."
Weiler, who joined Ahly in August 2019 from the Swiss side FC Luzern, signed a new contract last June that will keep him with the Cairo giants until the summer of 2021.
Following his strong performance with the Reds, Weiler was linked with several clubs in the Gulf as well as in Belgium and Switzerland, but he finally opted to continue his journey with Ahly.
Moreover, Ahly's football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz did not deny speculations over the future of Swiss coach Weiler, confirming the final decision is in the hands of the club's management.
"All what I know is that the club's management will take the right decision for the coming period especially as it will be a difficult time ahead of playing Morocco's Wydad in the CAF Champions League semifinals," Abdel-Hafiz told a radio programme on Thursday.
"Weiler's departure will be after a decision from the club's management and regarding the coach's salary; Weiler received all his dues as it's the normal in Ahly,"
Ahly are scheduled to face Wydad next month in an anticipated two-legged clash in the Champions League semi-final.
