Ahly winger Mahmoud 'Kahraba' Abdel-Moneim says he will be fit for Saturday’s anticipated Champions League semi-final clash against Wydad of Casablanca, despite being injured during the game against Pyramids FC Sunday, Ahly’s TV channel reported on Monday morning.
The 28-year-old striker left the pitch only nine minutes in due to a muscle injury in the 0-0 draw against the Los Millionarios in the Egyptian League.
“Kahraba told me that he will be fully fit for the Wydad game,” said Ahly’s TV channel’s reporter Mina Maher. “May be he was suffering from a minor strain, but he confirmed his readiness for the trip to Morocco tomorrow,” he added.
Ahly’s official website stated on Monday that the initial scans revealed Kahraba suffering from hamstring pains and that he is waiting for further scans later today.
The Red Devils could also miss out on the services of veteran keeper Mohamed El-Shennawi against Wydad since he is still recovering from a recent injury.
Shennawy missed the Pyrmaids FC match due to a muscular injury sustained last week but he is currently undergoing a rehabilitation program.
The team is also missing several key players with the likes of defenders Rami Rabia, Saad Samir, Mahmoud Metwalli and midfielders Mohamed Mahmoud and Karim "Nedved" Walid.
The Red Devils have already secured their fifth consecutive title and their 42nd-ever Egyptian League title weeks ago with an unassailable 20-point lead on second-place Zamalek.
