Ahly's regular goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawi, widely regarded as the team's standout performer this season, should be fit to feature against Morocco's Wydad after the Cairo giants named him in their squad for the African Champions League semi-final first leg.

The towering shot-stopper suffered a groin muscle strain in Ahly's 1-0 victory over Arab Contractors in the Egyptian Premier League earlier this month.

Doubts lingered over his availability for the crucial Wydad encounter in Casablanca but Ahly said he is now fully fit to take part in the game, which will be held on Saturday.

Winger Mahmoud Kahraba and central defender Ayman Ashraf, who were both nursing injuries, also made the roster that flew to Morocco on Tuesday.

Angolan winger Geraldo and Tunisian left-back Ali Maaloul will link up with their teammates in Morocco after concluding their national team commitments during the international break.

Ahly, who lost to Wydad in the 2017 final, are eyeing their first Champions League crown since they won the last of their record eight titles in 2013.

Ahly's full squad:

Goalkeepers: Mohamed El-Shennawi, Ali Lotfi, Mostafa Shobeir.

Defenders: Ali Maaloul, Mahmoud Wahid, Ayman Ashraf, Yasser Ibrahim, Mohamed Hani, Ahmed Fathi.

Midfielders: Amr El-Solaya, Aliou Dieng, Hamdi Fathi, Mohamed “Afsha” Magdi, Junior Ajayi, Saleh Gomaa, Hussein El-Shahat, Ahmed El-Sheikh, Walid Soliman, Mahmoud “Kahraba” Abdel Moneim, Geraldo.

Strikers: Marwan Mohsen, Aliou Badji.
