Ahly, Zamalek meet in Cairo Derby on 4th matchday of new Premier League season

The draw of the Egyptian Premier League's new season revealed that the Cairo derby games between Ahly and Zamalek will be played on the 4th and 21st matchdays

The Egyptian Football Association held a draw of the 2020/2021 Egyptian Premier League season on Monday, with the reigning champion, Ahly, due to start defending its title by facing Maqassa in the first matchday, while runner-up Zamalek will play against Arab Contractors.

The draw of the Egyptian Premier League’s new season also revealed that the Cairo derby games between Ahly and Zamalek will be played on the 4th and 21st matchdays.

The new season of the Egyptian Premier League will witness the first ever appearance of National Bank of Egypt and Ceramica Cleopatra, after the two sides led the teams' table of the second division league last season.

The Egyptian Premier League’s new season had been scheduled to kickoff by the end of November but is expected to be delayed until 10 December after the African Super Cup match in Egypt.

Ahly claimed their 42nd Egyptian Premier League title with six rounds left in the competition after gaining an unassailable 20-point lead last season.
