Egypt's Zamalek are expected to qualify for the 2021 CAF Champions League group stage after their opponents Gazelle FC of Chad failed to arrive in Cairo on time to face the Whites on Wednesday in the continental tournament's second preliminary round.

The Cairo giants are scheduled to face Gazelle FC in two legs of the CAF Champions League’s preliminary round, both in Cairo, to determine who advances to the group stage.

Egyptian media outlets reported that the Chadian team Gazelle had not arrived in Cairo International Airport as scheduled on Monday, two days before the game in time for a mandatory coronavirus test, due to miscommunication among the subsaharan African country's sports officials.

Zamalek are awaiting a decision from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to make official the Whites secured a place in the continental tournament's group stage.
