Ahly football director promises superb show at FIFA Club World Cup

Record nine-time African champions Ahly will start their mission when they face hosts Al-Duhail of Qatar, with the winners scheduled to meet European champions Bayern Munich in the semifinals

Ahly Football Director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz announced Sunday that his team is ready to put in a superb performance during the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup that kicks off this Thursday.

 
Qatar will host the Club World Cup from 4 to 11 February with the participation of only one representitive from five continents aongside a representative of the hosts. 
 
Record nine-time African champions Ahly will start their mission when they face hosts Al-Duhail of Qatar, with the winners scheduled to meet European champions Bayern Munich in the semi-finals.
 
"We know the power of Al-Duhail as they have more talented players in their squad," Sayed Abdel-Hafiz told reporters.
 
"Al-Duhail is a big team and we know that the opening game will be difficult for the two sides but we are confident in Ahly's players abilities to achieve positive results," the Ahly Football teams' director added.
 
"Ahly players have big motivation to put on a superb show as well as claiming good results against Al-Duhail when we kick off our campaign at the FIFA World Cup," said Abdel-Hafiz. 
 
Ahly Coach Pitso Mosimane held a meeting with the players, before traveling to Qatar to take part in the prestigious tournament, asking them to concentrate on putting on a superb show.
 
"Mosimane studied well our opponents in the FIFA Club World Cup as well as having held preparatory sessions for the game against Al-Duhail so Ahly players are ready to achieve victory and complete their mission at the tournament," Sayed Abdel-Hafiz added.
 
Ahly made five previous appearances at the Club World Cup, the last of which was in 2013. Their best result was a third-place finish at the 2006 edition in Japan but, otherwise, their participations were disappointing.
