Ahly's Tunisian left-back Ali Maaloul said Ahly players will fight to please club fans in Monday's "big" game against European champions Bayern Munich in the FIFA Club World Cup.
After claiming a narrow 1-0 victory over Qatar's Al-Duhail in the Club World Cup quarters, the Red Devils will meet European giants Bayern in the prestigious tournament's semifinal in Qatar.
"Reaching the semifinal is special, particularly because it is the first appearance for the current generation there. It will be a big and strong game between African and European champions. Sure it needs a big effort, preparations, and concentration to defend Ahly's Jersey and to deliver our best," Maaloul told Ahly's official website late on Friday.
"We are fully concentrated whether on the technical or physical level, and we have big ambitions to be in good shape against Bayern.
"We will be facing a big team with a host of players from the top level, but we will fight on the pitch to please our fans," he added.
Ahly had met Bayern Munich in two friendly matches; the first was in 1977 and ended with a 2-1 win for the Egyptian team, and the second was in 2012 and ended with a 2-1 victory for the Bavarians.
Ahly have made five previous appearances at the Club World Cup, the last of which was in 2013. Their best result was a third-place finish at Japan's 2006 edition.
