Ahly to fly to Sudan on Wednesday for a match with Al-Merrikh in the fifth round of the African Champions League group stage games on Saturday, the club's Football Director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz announced.

"The team will undergo PCR tests on Monday in preparation for the trip to Khartoum to face Al-Merrikh in the African Champions League," said Abdel-Hafiz on the club's official website on Sunday.

The Cairo giants returned to training on Sunday without participation of the team's international players, who are out on national duties with their national teams during the current break.

A draw with Al-Merrikh is enough for Ahly to secure a place in the African Champions League quarterfinals, regardless of the game's result between Simba of Tanzania and Vita Club of DR Congo.

Ahly are in the runners-up place of Group A with seven points, three points behind leaders Simba, while Vita Club are in the third place with four points and Al-Merrikh lie at the bottom with only one point.

The Red Devils opened the Champions League group stage campaign with a 3-0 win over Al-Merrikh at Cairo International stadium last February.
